(Tanka poetic form predates Haiku and its traditional 3-line, 17 syllable 5-7-5 structure. Tanka is traditionally in 31 syllables and 5 lines (5-7-5-7-7). Tanka in its purest form evokes a single moment with vivid precision and emotional veracity.)
